Several years ago, there was a whole public debate in the US about whether or not the universities where Richard Spencer got his BA and MA should revoke those degrees. That discussion particularly focused on the University of Virginia, where he got his BA and where the Unite the Right tiki torch march took place, threatening and intimidating a number of then-current students on campus. This is also the same Richard Spencer who has repeatedly been recorded on video giving Nazi salutes, who was infamously caught on tape using all kinds of racist and antisemitic language while ranting about the failure of Unite the Right, and who told his supporters to “party like it’s 1933” after Trump was elected the first time.
An array of college administrators across the country shot down the idea citing a “slippery slope”, academic freedom and whatnot.
Any one of those administrators who now fails to speak out against the revocation of Columbia grads’ diplomas for protesting on campus should lose their jobs and become permanently unemployable. They clearly don’t actually care about antisemitism or academic freedom and they aren’t at all concerned about a slippery slope. They just care about their careers and sucking up to whoever’s got more power than they do.
