Within 2 seconds of launching the major revamp of the iOS #Plex app I found a bug, and seconds later I found a horrible design error. The live TV guide is missing. When I tap a channel to stream it there are no controls on the portrait view. There is no way to stop the video, only pause it and that can only be done when the video is expanded to the landscape view. When I navigate away from the app and return it either forces me to select a user again or worse, it autoplays the live video.
Then I tried to find my libraries. Not all are listed to even pin, and the ones I did pin don’t show up. So I tap the upper-left drop down menu labeled Movies hoping to see my libraries listed there but all I was offered was to see all. I selected that and it hung the app. I left the app, returned, and once again had to select my user. My photo and music libraries are missing.
When selecting a movie it shows a nice, informative view but the cast icon does nothing. This app is a mess.
After switching away from live TV and returning, Plex commits the cardinal sin of not only autoplaying video, but doing so with the sound on even though I turned the audio off and paused the video before I left. I give up. I’ll wait for the next bug fix release.
I notice that even this latest version of the Plex app still shows iPhone videos recorded in landscape mode with the thumbnail upside down, and when I play the video the brightness strobes making it unwatchable. Good thing I’m not epileptic.
@TWSheppard I won't upgrade! This seems awful!
@jgobble I try not to say "upgrade" for any software these days as it seldom means what it used to—improvement. I now prefer "migrate" or equivalent.
