Abel MS
In football (and derivatives), the offside rule is old, predating the written rules of the game (1863).

The rule was created to crack down on "sneaking" around opposing players. It defines eligibility for receiving a forward passes.

The interpretation of the rule, however it is called out (VAR, assistant or head ref), has always been controversial, and will in all likelihood continue to be so.

Love it or hate it, it is part of the game.

#Qatar2022 #Offside
