I have purchased a few new #electronic devices over time, ranging from vinyl record players (decades ago) to mobile phones (months ago). But none of them hold a candle to the excitement associated with gently unpacking a new #HP #RPN #calculator and cracking open that thick #programming manual.

My choices were never the best that money could buy, just the best that I was able to afford. Nevertheless, I recall vividly those moments, despite the passage of time.

#HP #laptop won't turn on except for BIOS Update

I am having some issues with an HP 250 G8 laptop (4K803EA). The pc, when turned on, has the LED on but stays on a black screen. I opened the computer, and noticed that the fan spins for a few seconds after pressing the power button but then stops. I tried swapping ram with a working one taken from another laptop but nothing happens.

The only thing that seems working is the HP Bios Update utility, that I can open turning on the pc while pressing Windows + B keys, as described on HP website. It seems to complete flashing the bios with no errors, but then still no boot. I tried putting the bios files on a USB drive as well.

Any clue on how to solve this? Thanks.

I do have to say, the description that HP sticks on their firmware upgrades is comic:

"For more information, please refer to hp.com"

Because hp.com is such an useful landing page if you want information for a specific update.

Seriously?

Traditional case of "trust us", we won't f%%k up your hardware. Really. And if we do, it's a totally cool throwing brick in its second life.

#HP doubling ink subscriptions is not cool.

"Beginning on 19 April 2025, your 50 page plan will be £4.49 per month”

Guess the 3rd party ink cartridge lock out has nothing to do with this then?

"No sir, that was for your own protection, not for reasons to entrap you into this price rise at all”.
