Mastodon uses the same technical standards as many other alternative social networks, so people on one network can follow people on others. This "network of networks" is called the Fediverse
✅ You can follow people from other parts of the Fediverse just like you would follow any Mastodon account!
Try it out for yourself:
@jett1oeil is an account on Instagram alternative PixelFed
@chriswere is an account on YouTube alternative PeerTube
@tokyotony Hugo @mastohost has explained it to me, and I completely misunderstood what the Federated Timeline was.
In short, only accounts that someone (anyone) follows on twit.social will show up in the Federated Timeline. Follow someone and their toots will show up for all on the twit.social Federated Timeline.
It is NOT a complete set of ALL toots from ALL the instances in the Fediverse. Not even close.
The best sea chanty I've seen yet from Rachel Tobac on Twitter.

MLK Day isn't just an opportunity to remember Dr King; it's also a moment to contest his legacy - to remember him for who he was, a radical anti-capitalist who believed that racism was a tool first and foremost for class oppression.
Thankfully, we have a wealth of primary and secondary King material online and open access, especially in the Internet Archive.
