@leo Would it be possible to add the episode number to the Tech Guy podcast episode names? I listen in the car or while out walking, and often a week or so delayed from when they aired. If I want to comment with a belated solution, I have to do the math in my head to convert episode date back to episode number, because techguylabs primarily shows the episode number until you dig into each episode on the site.
@leo This is all I see in Pocket Casts. Looking in the RSS feed, I see the episode numbers in the <title> tag for each episode, but Pocket Casts seems to only show me the <itunes:title> tag.
Hrm, wonder if I can change that in app preferences...
@KWierso Ugh. In Apple's spec for podcast feeds it specifically says NOT to put the episode number in the title. We're trying to be compliant. So it's really up to Pocketcasts to display the episode number.
@leo Any chance it could at least make its way into the episode comment/summary field(s)? That'd remove at least one layer of effort for me getting to the right spot on the website.
@KWierso The issue is really with Pocketcasts - you should ask them to reveal the episode number. This would be an issue with every podcast. I wonder why they don't.
Downcast does it nicely, for example:
@KWierso Ahh. Pocketcasts also shows the episode number if you show the podcasts as a list! Problem solved.
@leo Oh hey, so it does! Wow, that is very subtle!
I sent in a feedback thing to Pocket Casts asking for an option to combine title + number in the media Now Playing metadata, since I primarily listen in the car where I only see artist/title/album (which ends up being "TWiT/[episode date]/The Tech Guy (audio)"). Hopefully they can make that happen without too much trouble.
